1) Playa de Raco :
With 600 metres of clean safe beach, the Playa de Racó de l’Albir has been awarded the prestigious EU Blue Flag classification.
The Paseo de la Estrellas is the beach promenade, where there are several bars and cafes. There are public toilets available. In summer there are lifeguards. The beach offers excellent views of Sierra Helada nature reserve to one side, and to the other, the Peñon de Ifach in Calpe.
The open air Roman museum is only a few minutes walk away.
The beach in Albir is one of the many things to do and places to see in the Costa Blanca.
Avec 600 mètres de plage propre et sûr, la paya de Raço de l'Albir a reçu le prestigieux classement du drapeau bleu de l'UE. Le Paséo de las Estrellas est la promenade de la plage, où il y a plusieurs bars, cafés et restaurants. En été il y a des sauveteurs. 2) Sierra Helada – Parque Natural de la Sierra Helada
Sierra Helada or Parque natural de la Sierra Helada is a national park in Benidorm and Albir. Over 5000 hectares of cliffs, trees and wildlife, with magnificent views. These cliffs were hideouts for Barbery pirates. There are over 50 speices of fish in the waters surrounding the park.
Fossils can be seen in several rocks, including hanging dune fossils. There are 12 points of interest, and the walk through the Sierra terminates at the Albir lighthouse which has a visitors centre.
Bikes are allowed although they can be stored at the entrance to the park. There is free wifi at certain points in the park. The views are breathtaking and it is one of the many things to do in the Costa Blanca.
There is a bus from the centre of Albir which stops near the entrance to the park.

Sierra Helada ou Parque naturel de la Sierra Helada est un parc national à Benidorm et Albir. Plus de 5000 hectares de falaises, d'arbres et de faune, avec des vues magnifiques. Ces falaises étaient des cachettes pour les pirates Barbery. Il existe plus de 50 espèces de poissons dans les eaux qui entourent le parc.

3)Roman Villa, Open Air Museum, Albir
This open air museum is in the centre of Albir. A visit to the remains of this 4th century Roman Villa and Olive Oil Press is one of the many things to do in the Costa Blanca. It makes for a perfect excursion from Benidorm.
The villa probably belonged to a wealthy Roman citizen. It boasted central heating, drainage and the usual bath system, with hot and warm rooms as well as a cold plunge pool.
The Roman Villa Museum in l’Alfas del Pi 7 Albir has a new downloadable app for iPad which provides a virtual view of the villa and thermal baths.
Entrance is free and information is in Spanish, Valencian and English.

The Roman Mausoleum in Albir is situated very near the open air Roman Villa.

The deer of La Sarga
The Caves of La Sarga feature very naturalistic depictions of deer, measuring about 30 cm long, where the figure was first outlined and subsequently filled in with very fine brush strokes. They belong to the schematic phase of rock painting, which was predominant in several cave sites found in the province.

4) Parque Natural del Carrascal de la Fuente Roja
This protected nature area occupies the Menejador sierra (1,352m) in the municipal areas of Alcoi and Ibi. Its east-west orientation accentuates the contrasts between the shady area and the sunny slopes, creating multiple types of landscape. It has one of the best-preserved Mediterranean forests in the land, with shady evergreen oak forests (holm oaks, small-leaf oaks, maples) and perennials such as yews, flowering ash and kermes oak. Each of the areas has its own associated fauna, including mammals (wild boar, genets, wild cats, badgers, etc.), reptiles and above all birds (Bonelli's eagle, golden eagle, vultures, eagle owl, etc.) Numerous routes for visiting the sights (old farmhouses, caves, etc.) start from the Nature Park Information Centre located in the Font Roja sanctuary
Ce parc naturel se trouve entre les municipalités de Ibi et Alcoi (province d'Alicante). La Chênaie (à chênes verts) de La Font Roja est un système montagneux qui sert de socle à une véritable forêt du levant méditerranéen.

1)Santa Barbara Castle
In the heart of Alicante City, Santa Barbara Castle has free admission and is one of the biggest fortresses in Spain.
There is a lift to the top of the castle halfway down postiguet beach (fee applies). You can also climb to the castle via Barrio Santa Cruz, or you can walk to the top at the entrance near MARQ Castillo tram stop.
There are magnificent view from the top of the castle and there is always an exhibition and market where you can buy local souvenirs. Exhibitions are listed in our events calender. There are several permanent museums at the castle including arms and equipment used in battles and ceramics. In summer there are a series of concerts held at Santa barbera.

2)Postiguet Beach Alicante
Alicante is famous its 900m wide Postiguet beach. It is perfectly positioned for easy access from the town and is surrounded by a palm-shaded promenade with many modern bars offering refreshments and food. It has been awarded a blue flag for being clean. There are many activities for families on the beach including a childrens play area. The beach offers amazing views of Santa Barbara castle. 3)Alicante Market
The indoor market has a wide range of stalls selling fruit, vegetables and meat amongst other produce. In the centre of Alicante the market is perfect for a visit in the morning. The market is surrounded by many bars which form part of the Tardeo on saturday afternoons.
The building was constructed in 1911 and 1912 under the direction of J. Vidal Ramos. It is famous for its spherical roof “the rotonda”. The market is modernist in style. WEBSITE

4)Basilica de Santa Maria, Alicante
The Basilica of Santa Maria was built between the 14th and 16th centuries over the remains of a mosque.

Situated in the centre of Alicante, only a few metres from Plaza de Ajuntamiento and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Alicante MACA, it is surrounded many bars, cafes and restaurants.
The number 2 bus stops nearby and is wheelchair friendly.
The Basilica contains many of the images used in Semana Santa / Easter in Alicante.

5)Monastery of Santa Faz, Alicante
The Romeria de Santa Faz or Pilrimage is one of the main fiestas in Alicante. Every year on the second thursday after Holy hursday in easter week a pilgrimage is made by many thousands of people to the Monestry of Santa Faz. usually about 150,000 people make this pilrmage. The starting point is the cathederal in Alicante and people walk for 8 kilometres to Santa Faz.
The Monastery was built upon the ruins of a hermitage and the current building was completed in 1766.

La Romeria de Santa Faz ou le Pilrimage est l'une des principales fêtes d'Alicante. The Plaza de Ayuntamiento is in the centre of Alicante. In this square you can find a Town Hall which was dates from 1699. the building is Borroque in style. There are many events held in the Sqaure in front of the town hall, including ice skating at Christmas, concerts and a flea market/Rastro every Sunday.

How do I get to the cross of Benidorm?
It is a 45 miniute walk from the town to get to the Cross of Benidorm., by taking Calle Berlin behind the Palm Beach hotel on the new road. It is recommended that you make sure you take water especially in the summer months.
Benidorm Cross / La Cruz de Benidorm is a major tourist resort in the area that few tourists access. It is an interesting place to visit for hikers, religious reasons and lovers of stunning landscapes. It offers amazing views and panoramas for photography.
Why is there a Cross in the Sierra Helada park?
The Cross or in Spanish La Cruz de Benidorm was founded over 50 years ago by Catholic priests at the top of Rincon de Loix, in the mountain of the Sierra Helada in December 1961.
Why is the Cross Famous?
The former mayor of Benidorm between 1950 and 1967, Pedro Zaragoza, got the approval of the Franco government to allow the use of bikinis on the beaches of Benidorm, a pledge that at that time was considered sinful. As punishment, the bishop of Orihuela-Alicante threatened to put a sign at the entrance to the town to send people to ‘Hell’. So the cross was installed.
The Cross of Benidorm was previously wooden but it was replaced by metal in 1975. It is one of the more difficult walks and it can be accessed via the Sierra Helada.

Benidorm Island is an islet located on the Spanish coast, off the holiday city of Benidorm. It is approximately 3.5 km from Benidorm promenade.
There are several companies which run excursions to this island.
Tourists to the area can take boat trips from the mainland to the island to visit the island’s wildlife, notably its peacock population. Due to this it is colloquially known as Peacock Island.
The amazing Benidorm skyline seen from the Mediterranean and framed by the towering Puig Campana mountain (the one with the hole in the top) is simply stunning – in fact the whole trip is worth it just for that view. PANORAMA 360

8)Playa de Mal Pas
Below the Mirador and Old Town Benidorm, this little cove is a nice place to sunbathe away from the crowds on the Levante Beach.
With views of Peacock Island / Benidorm Island Playa de Mal Pas is one of the three beaches in Benidorm.
After spending time on the beach the Old Town is metres away and it is only a short climb to the Mirador de Mediterraneo, where you have amazing views from Alicante to the Sierra de Helado.

En-dessous du Mirador et de la Vieille Ville de Benidorm, cette petite crique est un endroit agréable pour se baigner au soleil hors de la foule sur la plage de Levante.
Avec vue sur l'île de Peacock / l'île de Benidorm, Playa de Mal Pas est l'une des trois plages de Benidorm.
Après avoir passé du temps sur la plage, la vieille ville se trouve à quelques mètres et c'est seulement une courte escalade vers le Mirador de Mediterraneo, où vous avez une vue imprenable depuis Alicante jusqu'à la Sierra de Helado.

Benidorm is also known as the city of sacred festivals, too. The major fiestas are in honour of the Virgin of the Suffrage and of the apostle St. James. The celebrations begin in November from Saturday to Tuesday from the second week of the month and continue in March with las Fallas and the fires of St. John in June.
Over all Benidorm celebrates more than 55 fiestas each and every year! Migrant workers brought here their own festivals, celebrations and traditions.
In December and January look out for the procession of the Three Kings on 5 January
San Antonio and the Hermita de Sanz (17 January). In February Carnival and many processions, fancy dress competitions and the intriguing ‘Burial of the Sardine’.
On 5 March, the discovery of a ship on Poniente Beach in 1740 is re-enacted. A wooden statue, the ‘Virgen del Sufragio’ was discovered amongst the cinders, undamaged by the flames. Celebrations include fancy dresses.
Benidorm’s three ‘Falla’ are fabulous sculptures: Centre Falla; Rincon Falla and Els Tolls Falla, all happening in different districts. Celebrations include processions, street entertainment and fireworks from 16-19 March.
In April is staged the Holy week with beautiful religious services and processions
In the beginning of May la Fiesta de la Creu (1 May) will be in Foietes District, while in June the famous Bonfires of St John are on, when papier mache and wooden figures are displayed for a few days and then burned on the ‘nit del foc‘ (24 June). You can admire them in the La Cala, Central Market and Old Town areas. La Romeria del Corpus is instead a very traditional Andalucian fiesta with a procession of horses and a fairground.
On 6 and 7 July it arrives San Fermin, while the first weekend in July is the time for St Christopher, on 16 July it comes the Fiestas of the Carmen, and on 25 July Benidorm will celebrate its patron, St James. No fiestas in August, but an incredible amount of cultural and artistic events. There are live concerts most nights in the Aiguera Park auditoriums.
On 6 and 7 September the locals will celebrate the Fiesta of Asturias, while the Harvest Festival will run throughout the month
Last week of September, many town included Benidorm will celebrate the Moors and Christians festival.
The Fiestas of the Town (Las Fiestas Patronales), celebrating Benidorm’s patron saints, El Virgen del Suffrage and Jaime Apostle runs from the Friday before the second weekend of the month until the following Wednesday in Novemeber. The festival is preceeded by all sorts of sporting and cultural events including things like football, concerts, fishing contests etc.
10)St Jamie Church, Benidorm Old Town
San Jamie Church – For years I walked past this stunning place and never went inside, I think half of me was scared, you know “god’s watching me” and all that stuff and it is Benidorm and probably subconsciously I thought I would burst in to flames for my sins in Cafe Benidorm, another part of me like any normal person just didn’t know I could stroll in. Well one day I strolled in and two good things happened that day, I seen the beauty of St Jamie Church first hand, and the other, I didn’t burst in to flames for my sins!
St Jamie church ( San Jamie Church ) is located in the Old Town part of Benidorm and for those who have not found this gem of a place just head to the Old Town and as it’s like a maze to the newbie around here just stop someone in the street or pop in to one of the many bars, everyone is friendly here and more than welcoming that you are visiting this part of town and more than happy to help. I must stress that this is an active church and is also a hub of activity when there is fiestas being held and is a great time to see the church in it’s full vibrant flow.
I was lucky enough to have my camera with when I visited the St Jamie church and gives you a feel of the place and you can see how stunning it is. There are many places to see in Benidorm and for those looking for a break from the fast pace of the new town a trip to the old town is highly recommended. Now before anyone starts hating on me for calling the church ‘St Jamie’ I must stress that different nationalities refer it to their native language and I will add that the church is also known as Church San Jamie ( the most known name ) ; Iglesia de San Jaime y Santa Ana ( official name ); Plaza de San Jaime; Church of St James;

1)The Peñon de Ifach
The Peñón de Ifach, a symbol of the Costa Blanca and is one of the main attractions and things to do in Calpe.It is a 50,000 m2 limestone rock that rises 332 m above the sea and is a kilometre long. The Peñon de Ifach onnected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus, it is the result of a landslide of the nearby Sierra de Oltà, and is one of the most unique and beautiful landforms on the entire Mediterranean coast.
It is a national nature park and has a unique natural diversity.
Penon de Ifach is home to a diverse colony of flora and fauna, including some rare and endangered species. Toward its base, there are many varieties of plants common to the Mediterranean, but at higher elevations, they become more Alpine in nature. Species such as the nearly extinct Silene hifacensis, Rock scabious and Thymus Webbianus, grow in crevices and ledges on the sheer rock face.
With regards to fauna, there can be as many as 60 bird species nesting and congregating at different times of the year, including the winter wren, shag, pallid swift and peregrine falcon. Other species include reptilian inhabitants such as ocellated lizards and Montpellier snakes, as well as mammals such as the hedgehog, shrew and rabbit. WEBSITE

2)Playa de Levante or La Fossa
With a length of almost one kilometre, this is the most popular beach in terms of numbers. The sand is clean and maintained throughout the year which makes it perfect for winter breaks. The beach is next to the promenade and near the nature zone The Salinas de Calpe.
There are many restaurants and bars surrounding the beach.
Ideal for family and children, in summer it has an adapted area near Calle Llevant, with services to facilitate access to the bathroom for disabled people. This bathroom is equipped with chair and amphibious crutch.
Avec une longueur d'environ un kilomètre, c'est la plage la plus populaire en termes de nombres. Le sable est propre et entretenu tout au long de l'année ce qui le rend parfait pour les pauses hivernales. La plage est à côté de la promenade et à proximité de la zone naturelle des Salinas de Calpe.
Il existe de nombreux restaurants et bars entourant la plage.
Idéal pour les familles et les enfants, en été, il dispose d'une zone adaptée près de Calle Llevant, avec des services pour faciliter l'accès à la salle de bain pour les personnes handicapées.
3)Playa Arenal Bol Beaches
With a length of 1,200 metre this beach has a Blue Flag.
With very easy access from the town this beach had golden sand and calm, clear waters. The beach is on the maritime walk (Paseo Maritim). There are many bars and restaurants when you fancy a break away form the beach.
It is a family beach with a small water park for young children. Fish can be seen in the waters.
There are services to facilitate the bathing in the sea for people with reduced mobility
Avec une longueur de 1200 mètres, cette plage a un drapeau bleu.
Avec un accès très facile de la ville, cette plage avait du sable doré et des eaux calmes et claires. La plage est sur la promenade maritime (Paseo Maritim). Il y a beaucoup de bars et de restaurants lorsque vous avez envie de vous séparer de la plage.
C'est une plage familiale avec un petit parc aquatique pour jeunes enfants. Le poisson peut être vu dans les eaux.
Il existe des services pour faciliter la baignade dans la mer pour les personnes à mobilité réduite
4-Calpe Castle
The Castellet de Calpe is a watchtower for pirates built in the final years of the 16th Century on the remains of the old castle. It is a good example of military architecture.
The castle is outside the town of Calpe and is within walking distance from the Town.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
l s’agit des restes d'une tour de guet construite à la fin du XVIème siècle pour prévenir une attaque des pirates Berbères.
Historiquement et architecturalement, c’est une architecture militaire construite sur le site et avec les matériaux de l’ancien Château de Calpe (Du XIIème au XIVème siècle).
